Rest

Rest

Next time someone asks the question, “If Christ came today, are you ready?”  I’m gonna vomit.  Not because it’s a bad question.  But because it’s bad theology.

The question implies a religious reaction to the work of Jesus.  Because Jesus did this and that, what are you doing in return to make yourself  more holy?

Nope – I can never, ever subscribe to that mentality because, if I do, I set myself up to be a walking tampon – Isa 64:6.

Instead I aim to have my Sabbath in my Lord and His finished work.  He knew that I, on my own, can never, ever amount to anything.  And that’s why He paid my price for me.

If I thought I can “ready myself”, it’s akin to me walking up to the cross, tapping Jesus on the shoulder as He is suffocating, and choking to death and saying, “step aside padre – this one’s on me.”

“For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them.  But the righteousness based on faith says,

“Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) or “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says..

“Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Rom 10:5-13

Am I ready? Nope.  But in my defence, I call upon the Name of Jesus.  Does that mean I live a dodgey life and let Him take all the blame.  Nope.  His love for me and His calling out to me should motivate me to live a life sold out to Him.

But this has nothing to do with salvation – that’s His work.  When it comes to my salvation, I rest in Jesus.  When it comes to working out my salvation, I am troubled and in fear – my sanctification has a lot to do with me and I perplexed at how easily I am the prime stumbling block to this process.  The last thing I need is for religion to point its ugly finger at me and demand, “Are you ready?”

Nope.  But that’s how grace works.

Thank You Jesus.

Every single one of us on this planet are on a journey.  This is not our final destination for any of us.  We fool ourselves on a daily basis that this is all there is.

But when you truly think about it, our beautiful earth is but a canvas on which our lives are played out.  This earth provides us the context and structure for our minds to grapple with the reality of existence.

And in this discovery, it’s God’s Will that all find Him – far above all the noise and clutter the world throws at us.  Far superior to the barren idols the world sticks in our faces unashamedly – be it money, possessions, accomplishment, greed, power or influence.

These are real idols – but they are also fleshly and carnal – and of the devil.  Our journey through life will teach us and train us to see things as things as they truly are – that in our pursuit of chasing after the “grass is greener on the other side”, we end up truly miserable and dead on the inside – and in desperate need of a Saviour

But to reach this conclusion on our journey, we will need wisdom. One of my favourite passages in Scripture has to do with this journey.  It’s found in Psalm 90:12..

“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom”

To me, this screams practicality. As I journey through life and have my head and heart messed up by all the rubbish life throws at me, it’s easy to lose track of the bigger picture – that I was put in this place to find God and to live a life in His will.  In doing so, He will be glorified, and my life will be full of joy.

Not the silly, short founded, tacky joy that the world gives.  I’m talking about a joy that obliterates the question, “What is the purpose of life?”

To be “taught to number my days in order to get a heart of wisdom” is another way of saying that I really need God’s perspective on my journey in life instead of relying  on my own.  The above verse is but 1 out of 17.  I give you the other 16…

Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

You return man to dust and say, “Return, O children of man!” For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.

You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning: in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.

For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed. You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh. The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away. Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants! Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil. Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

Now that I have your attention with that headline, please read on.  I’m a Christian and I hate the theory of evolution.  I despise it like not much else on this planet.

But what drives this hatred is not my faith.  It’s the pathetic science behind the theory.  Please don’t get me wrong, I am not anti-science whatsoever.  In fact I love science.

But true science gathers facts and then applies logic to the facts to determine scientific reality.  Evolutionary biology, along with other “evolutionary” sciences is the total opposite.  It assumes a philosophical reality and then applies this mindset in twisting the facts to align them to it’s philosophy.

Say hello to the theory of evolution – one of the world’s newest religions.  Many have said that it takes more faith to believe in the theory of evolution then it does to believe in God.  Oh, and if you’re a scientist who questions evolution, well I’ve got bad news for you.

Get ready to be slammed by your community.  Get ready to be labelled a religious nut pursuing “bad science” in the pursuit of justifying your faith.  In other words, get ready to be accused of doing what mainstream evolutionary scientists already do.

Evolution fails to address the most basic questions raised of our reality in this universe.  While we all seem to agree in the Big Bang, that is, in the beginning, there was nothing and, all of a sudden, this nothing exploded and gave birth to our universe.  Up until this point, we are OK.

But the laws of cause and effect scream that there must be a reason why “nothing suddenly became something” – and something so amazing and organised and “rule following” that it demands an answer to a question:

WHO SET THESE RULES IN THE FIRST PLACE?

For example, how would a simple explosion of nothing result in the force of gravity?  What caused all the elements to form?  Who or what is the architect of light, atoms, protons, neutrons and how they all interact with each other?

Surely random chaos is a brilliant mind to create such a reality!  I bow to the god of random chaos – you are a true genius!

This sounds so absurd doesn’t it?  And yet, it’s this mindset that needs to be explored if you believe in the theory of evolution.  If you follow through it’s logic, you arrive at random chaos.

So although I used the title of this post to draw you in, I do truly believe that evolution is dead – simply because of the science.  You throw in the theological perspective also and you will find evolution in such a bad place that even it’s most stern supporters wouldn’t even want to be associated with it with a 10 foot pole – that is if human pride didn’t get in the way.

Watch this space:  In the years to come, the theory of evolution as we know it will be laughed upon as much the theory that the earth is flat.

And much of this will be due to the new science of intelligent design.  Birthed by the necessity to explain the gaping holes in evolution and the birth of the areas such as molecular biology and information sciences, intelligent design does one thing very well – it gathers fact and then applies logic to it to determine scientific reality.

But instead of approaching science in the way it should be approached, the evolution crowd is “oh so ready” to slap you as an idiot if you don’t adhere to their religion – I mean “science.”  To the point where you will be discredited, mocked and ridiculed and labelled a nut case.

The film, “Expelled – No Intelligence Allowed” – by Ben Stein addresses this mindset.  To be sure, he has already been crucified on the alter of the evolutionary religion – check out sites such as this and this – old clichéd forms of attack that mean…well nothing really.  The attack against Stein is thick and fast – kind of EXACTLY like Scientologists retaliating.  Anyone with half a brain would see that these critics have a lot to loose and go after Stein aggressively.

However, what I enjoyed watching was an interview Stein had with the highly respected, reformed Theologian, RC Sproul – of Ligoniers Ministries.  Sproul is no small fry in the intellectual world and has an engaging, in depth conversation with Stein about his movie.  At the end, Stein’s summation of RC is, “Holy Cow – you’re a smart guy!  Where did you learn about all this stuff?”

Maybe, just maybe, RC’s heart and mind have been renewed to reflect the mindset of the Person who is the “Intelligence” behind intelligent design!

Watch all three parts to get the best perspective.  HT:  the vertiCALL

Get a taste of the film with Stein interviewing Richard Dawkins. Richard, in the years to come, you are the one who will be proved to be one of the biggest idiots this planet has ever had the “privilege” to host.  Welcome to the “Stupid Club”.

Jew

I am often called “a pig faced Zionist scumbag” due to my high regard to the Jewish people and the land they live in.

Contrary to world opinion, I believe Israel has every right in the world to exist when and where it does as this is their God given right to do so.

Many will hate this – obviously from Arab/Muslim circles.  And many Christians hate this too as they focus on the plight of the so called “Palestinian” instead of reading the text of the Book that defines their faith.  If they did, they would realise that the reality of Israel on our planet is a fulfilment of prophecy uttered thousands of years ago.

Sure, the circumstances around it’s existence isn’t exactly “kosher” to the pacifist observer.  But then again, you point me to a Utopian reality anywhere on this earth, and you will win the argument.

When God called Abram and built the Hebrew nation from his descendants, it was so that the Messiah , Jesus Christ, would be born through the lineage of the Jew.  And His violent murder was the catalyst for salvation to come to the Gentile.

The Jew was dispersed – and eventually hunted down, humiliated and murdered in Europe during WWII.  Christians conveniently adopted “replacement theology”and heaped on themselves the blessings given specifically to the Jew.  And all hope seemed lost.

When the Prophet Ezekiel uttered the following words, could it be that he was spiritually whisked ahead in time and observed the horror of the holocaust of WWII?

Mankind had a plan for the Jew – but this was in contradiction to God’s plan.  And in the aftermath of WWII, Ezekiel was watching and uttered the following..

The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones.

And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me,  “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and l cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”

So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them.

But there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”  So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.

’Therefore  prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people.

And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord.” Eze 37:1-14

And so that is why I am so proud to be called a pig faced Zionist scumbag.  I’d rather be on God’s side then that of man any day – no matter what it makes me look like.

I will always hold my Jewish brothers and sisters in high regard because God isn’t done with them yet. And once again, they face a enemy eager to wipe them off the face of the earth in the form of radical Islam.

I urge you to watch the following video and remember “The Forgotten People” – and pray.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

boycott I posted the following video on my YouTube account back in January 2009.  I didn’t make it – I simply downloaded it from somewhere else.  Since then it has had 7,500 hits – nothing to write home about.

But what makes it interesting is the comments and emails I don’t publish with it as I have disabled the comments.

I get the whole spectrum of comments with this video.  The amount of hate mail I get from some disgusting Arabs is ridiculous – the hate and the vulgarity would make Muhammad turn in his grave, sit up and take notice and ponder on how his religion has evolved.

I also get hate mail from some Jews thinking I’m having a go at them and, most surprisingly, the video has also been embedded into some pro Palestinian, anti Israeli websites.  Like a “hey check this out, this is what we can do to weaken our enemy.”

This all makes me laugh.  The reason I posted this is to show the advances mankind has made through our Israeli brothers and sisters – and to take a sarcastic swipe at some of the ridiculous accusations made against the people of Israel.

So I invite you to sit back and spend the next 8 minutes watching this and give me your verdict – the good, the bad, the ugly…fire away! :)

Fractured

I believe world empires are judged on a very peculiar litmus test – how they treat the nation of Israel. Echoing out of the pages of the Book of Genesis where it says…

“I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Gen 12:3

..we see that these words hold true even to our day.

It was once said that the”the sun never sets on the British Empire” – in it’s peak in 1922, the Empire consisted of over 458 million people as it ruled a quarter of the earth.  And yet, after WWII, the empire collapsed through bankruptcy and a huge shift in power to the US and the USSR.

I believe the collapse of the British Empire had very little to do in reality with bankruptcy – although it was the main reason it folded according to the history books.  However I believe the main reason it collapsed because it turned its back on the newly established nation of Israel.

As Israel struggled to establish itself, it was the British Empire that showed great resistance – even firing on boatloads of Jewish immigrants leaving a war torn, Jewish hating Europe to a new life in the new state of Israel.

I believe that God, in His sovereignty, used the British Empire to bring to an end the Nazi war but then quickly discarded the Empire once it dishonoured the “apple of His eye”.

As the balance of power turned to the US and USSR, it was the US who flourished after the Cold War.  Is it too much of a stretch to believe that this was allowed to happen because the US was ALWAYS a strong supporter of Israel (even if it did so in the pursuit of it’s own agenda) – and the USSR was not?

In fact during the collapsing of the USSR, it was then that Jews were finally free to return to Israel.  God promised to bring His people back from all corners of the globe.  Communism was in the way in the USSR – and God broke it to allow His people to come home.

And so we have the US left – arguably the worlds most powerful country in all of history.  And the largest population of Jews in the world – including Israel itself.  I believe the words echoed in Genesis has allowed the US to become this as it has been a strong supporter of Israel.

But there are two power plays in the world today that will forever alter this and cause the collapse of the US.

Firstly, when God says that He will gather all the Jews from all for corners of the earth back to Israel, I didn’t see a little clause saying “apart from the US”. No – He will bring home the vast majority of the 5.4 million Jews living in the US.

I often wondered how this would happen.  I mean it took WWII for the nation of Israel to be born and the collapse of the USSR to bring in vast numbers back.  And it made me think, “why do Jews like the US so much?” And the answer was always money.  So I concluded that a financial breakdown will occur in the US and bankrupt the “empire” in order to let the Jewish floodgates of emigration occur.

This was back in the late nineties – at the height of US superiority and way before any so called dodgey “war on terror”.  A complete financial breakdown seemed very unlikely then.  But now, in the light of the global financial crisis, I guess this isn’t such a far fetched idea anymore.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, and connected with the first point, is the fractures appearing in US and Israeli relations.  Obama has turned on it’s head decades of tradition and creating a very strange environment in the US.  This gave rise to a recent letter sent to Hillary Clinton by BOTH sides of the Senate asking a “please explain” for the recent events that took place after Israel announced a new building project in Jerusalem.

Obama Bow Obama seems more interested in pleasing the enemies of Israel, and the US for the matter, then in solidifying ties with one of it’s greatest allies.  One of the great controversies is the “bow” he took to the Saudi Arabian King – in effect saying, “Hey Buddy – I’m subservient to you”.

And in some of the latest developments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,

has been politically snubbed at the White House on his last 2 visits. On the last occasion, Obama left Netanyahu alone while he popped out to grab a bite to eat with his family!

It seems Obama is keen to have his photo taken next to a whole array of world leaders – a lot of which are not allies to the US.  But when the leader of a strong supporter of the US comes to town, even the media is thrown out?  Check out this video fore more…

Obama has strong Muslim roots and is, after all, simply a puppet President of the real powers behind the New World Order.  It seems as if the “usefulness” of the US  has come to an end for the power brokers.  In doing so, they seem to have their target set on the nation of Israel again.

So here’s my prediction on all of this.  As the British Empire collapsed under the weight of bankruptcy after WWII as it turned it’s back on Israel, the US will also suffer a similar fate.  The further total collapse of the US economy (all reports of a recovery are a joke) will bankrupt the US and the balance of power will swing to the East. As a result, the “aliya” will explode in the US – mass emigration of Jews to the land of Israel and the once great USA will be no more.

Exciting, albeit scary, times are ahead!
