The Peasant Princess

I’m really looking forward to the upcoming sermon series at Mars Hill Church called The Peasant Princess.  Based on the the Song of Songs, Mark Driscoll will spend 10 weeks going through the details of this provacative text.

It’s been said that ancient Jewish Rabi’s weren’t allowed to study the Song of Songs until they were 30 years old as it contains explicit sexual material.  So listening to Driscoll spend 10 weeks on it should be fun indeed.

Mars Hill have a dedicated website to this series found here. In addition, they have produced a PDF outlining what they hope to acheive with this series.  To prepare us for the adventure, they have also released the following video promo to wet our appetites.

You can just tell that this will drive attendance to Mars Hill Church and hopefully this sex crazed world will get a better understanding of the way Scripture views intamacy.

i’m hoping you’ve had a chance to listen in so far. from my seat in the auditorium, the first two weeks have been great–Mark is hitting on some real truths and most of us are rotfl. some people may look askance at so much laughter in church, but i believe that laughing helps us remember things better.

and the Q&A with Mark and Grace is great–do you get that part on the podcasts?

Yeah I have listened to the firts sermon and will listen to the second on the way to work today. Love it so far - funny as! Typical Driscoll preaching on a very cool subject.

And yes, the Q&A does come out on the podcast!

Am so jealous of you sitting in the auditorium! Living in Australia makes it kind of difficult for me to attend on a Sunday! But I did drive for a 20 hour round trip to Sydney last month to listen to him speak at the “Burn Your Plastic Jesus” event in Sydney.

Hi! I’m a friend of NancyJean from Australia. I was fortunate enough to travel over to Seattle last year in September, and attend a couple of services at Mars Hill.

    Hi Wendy,

Thanks for visiting my little twisted world on the web :)
You have totally got me jealous when you say you visited Mars Hill!

Nancyjean seems real nice. I got the low down from her in regards to her role at Mars Hill - am totally jealous again! :)
    You enjoying peasant princess?

For another great sermon by Driscoll, check out the following link for a message he shared at the Desiring God conference - typical Driscoll - in your face and funny!

    You’re welcome. :)
Yes, it was great to be able attend Mars Hill personally, after listening to the sermons over the past seven years or more.

As NancyJean would tell you, we are like sisters from another mother. Although I’m the much younger and adorable one. :D
I’m a bit behind when it comes to the latest sermons. I’m actually going through a rather rough patch at the moment. I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, and am currently going through chemotherapy.
