Sun, Surf & Sea…

Gold Coast On Sunday, we are off on our annual/biannual pilgrimage to Australia’s playground, the Gold Coast. Here is the TV ad beaming all around the world about this unique part of Australia.

It’s going to be nine days of sun surf and sea and I can’t wait to squish my toes in the sand of Australia’s most well known coastline.

What I’m looking most forwards is to spending 9 days uninterrupted with my kids. In the last six months, they’ve had to endure mummy’s and daddy’s extremely hectic life including:

  • Opening a business
  • Being made redundant
  • New job
  • Extremely frequent travel for daddy being away more then he is at home
  • Being forced into childcare for the first time

Now it’s their turn to indulge in fun, fun and more fun. Our family are beach bums. A typical day is this:

  • We wake up
  • We eat
  • We hit the beach
  • We hit the pool
  • Kids go to sleep
  • We hit the beach/pool again when they get up
  • Eat
  • Go for walks along the Gold Coast
  • We chill as a family and laugh our brains out
  • We flake it
  • Repeat for 9 days except for a visit to White Water World.

Crown TowersAs a family we love it. Time together uninterrupted by hectic schedules is gold for us. We stay at a place called Crown Towers Resort - mainly because it’s got an awesome lagoon style walk in pool which resembles a beach.

On feral days where the wind blows sand all over the place at the beach, this lagoon pool is a haven for us as we get to enjoy the sun, sand and water in the comforts of our entirely fake beach as seen below.

Crown Towers 2The Gold Coast is a two hour flight north for us and a one hour transfer from the airport. I personally start relaxing once our driver drops us off at the hotel as this means my ordeal with a two and a half year old boy in the plane and car is over. My four and a half year old daughter is fine. She is daddy’s little girl and we have ourselves mutually wrapped around our fingers all the time.

I’ll catch up with you guys on the other side of all this - where I’m totally depressed that I have just finished my holidays. You know what I mean by this. When something ends that you have been waiting so long to arrive, it leaves you a little guttered.

But until then, cheers!
