Hugo Chavez - Friend Or Foe?

authorLayGuy | September 30, 2007

I have recently been asked a question regarding Hugo Chavez - the Venezuelan President. Being a lay guy and an Aussie puts me at a disadvantage to knowing what’s the gist on this guy. What happens in Venezuela has little bearing on my life in Melbourne, Australia.

But because I was asked by a friend as to what I think on this matter, I did some research and found this very interesting movie on YouTube named ‘The War On Democracy”. It’s done by John Pilger - a fellow Aussie who deserted his fellow Aussie and became a Pom.

I honestly don’t know much about Pilger and have no idea about his views or political leanings. Leanings to me are vitally important whenever whenever I research cause they expose the motives behind what is said.

Too many times people consume information without giving thought to the leanings of the information giver. Fox News is an obvious example. “We report. You decide” is their catch cry. What crap! It should say, “we report from a right wing, conservative perspective and we shoot down any dissent from our view and we belittle those opposing our view and then we brainwash - and then you are left to decide what we have carefully crafted for you to decide.” And to think that a fellow Aussie, Mr Rupert Murdoch runs this station is a disgrace. No wonder his son deserted him to live a normal life.

Now I am a Christian. Right wing or left wing? I don’t know. I’m not a bird. I like truth instead. John Pilger’s documentary can be viewed below. Click here to view his entry on Wikipedia. Click here for a Google search on the guy. You do the research. You decide. Be informed instead of relying on the media.

As to his credentials, here they are…

“John Pilger has been a war correspondent, film-maker and author, and has twice won British journalism’s highest award, that of Journalist of the Year. He has also been named International Reporter of the Year, and won the United Nations Association Peace Prize and Gold Medal. For his broadcasting, he has won France’s Reporter Sans Frontieres, and television academy awards in the United States and Britain. He holds the prestigous Sophie Award for “thirty years of exposing deception and improving human rights”.

Now that’s pretty impressive. So when a guy like this releases a major documentary, I sit up and take notice as it often paints a picture way different to what the media paints.

As I write this, I’ve only seen 3 out of 10 parts to his documentary below. It’s obvious that Pilger is pro Chavez. He is hinting of a President so popular in Venezuela - at least with the vast majority of poor citizens who now have a chance of a better life.

His detractors are the middle to high end Venezuelans whose high standard of living is threatened by the policies of Chavez. You see Chavez wants to use the money made in oil to help lift the poor out of poverty. The rich of Venezuela see this as a threat and therefore plot against the President using the media.

To you in the US who see Chavez as a criminal, I need to ask you if you have swallowed the propaganda pill of deceit. You see, Venezuela is the third largest oil importer into the US. Chavez’ policies threaten the cheap import of oil into your country.

Washington hates this.

The US is the largest consumer of oil in the world. A cheap, steady flow of oil into your country is vital to your economy more than any other country in the world. It dictates your foreign policy and moulds your perception as to who are the good guys in the world and who are the bad.

Chavez, because he cares for the poor in his country (cause he was once one of them) is now a “terrorist” building up the next Cuba. Character assignation and mass propaganda is making him look like the new Castro.

This is what Pilger claims in his movie. Like I said, I don’t know much about this topic. I don’t know much about Pilger. What I do know is that God help anyone who stands in the way of American interest.

You watch. You research. You decide.

The Demon Seed

authorLayGuy | September 29, 2007

fallen-angel.jpg

Most ancient civilisations document the story of a great flood covering the earth and destroying everything. Walk into a Christian bookstore, go to the children’s section and you will find scores of books on Noah’s ark.

It baffles me as to why this story has been degraded into a cute children’s story of animals walking two by two into the ark. Don’t get me wrong, I have two kids of my own and love sharing this story as it’s a cute one.

But it’s one thing to tell stories to children and another thing to delve into the reality of Noah’s time as an adult and learn from what happened in the days of Noah.

Why? Well let’s just say that Jesus alluded to Noah’s time when asked about what conditions would be like at the end of days.

“For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Mat 24:37

Sure, on surface level, this text alludes to judgement and destruction and the fact that people are unaware of what was coming to them. But there is so much more to this story. Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a cosmic conspiracy so deep, it could only be birthed in the depraved soul of Satan himself.

To my readers, I ask one simple question; why did God destroy the earth with a flood?

If you give me a cliche answer such as “because of sin” I’ll scream. It baffles me as to why Christian’s don’t delve deeper into the times in which Noah walked.

While Christ was dead for three days, where did He go? Of all the places in heaven, on earth or under the earth His spirit could have gone, where did He go? What mission did His spirit accomplish while His flesh lay in the tomb?

Some may say I’m into conspiracy theories. I disagree. Conspiracy theories are often whacked out. I like facts. If the “official story” does not way up to the facts, then I doubt the official story. Unfortunately, this then puts me into the conspiracy theory camp.

Honestly? I don’t care. The Bible talks about the ultimate conspiracy against mankind being waged as we breathe…

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.” 2 Thess 2:7

If Paul wrote that almost 2000 years ago, and did so in past tense, who knows how long the mystery has been in play? And if was true then, then it is still true today - which makes this conspiracy at least 2000 years old.

And the scary thing is that its effects are being held back by someone or something for a later date. I’s about to be unleashed on mankind. If Jesus pointed to the days of Noah as a sign, I think it’s wise to understand what the hell was going on at Noah’s time to be so damn important.

So I ask you again. Why did God destroy the earth with a flood?

USA - Police State

authorLayGuy | September 28, 2007

Lately, I’ve copped a bit of criticism for the political and conspiracy leanings of my blog. As an Aussie, some may say I have no idea or have no right to criticize what happens in the States. However I beg to differ.

Australia is part of the ANZUS treaty which dictates that if the US, Australia or New Zealand ever declare war, we support each other. So by default, my country has been dragged into the chaos of Mr George Bush and his cronies.

This sucks for many reasons. But what really gets me is how blind most Americans are to what’s happening in their own country. Most liberals vote Democrats cause they can’t stand conservatives. Most conservatives vote Republic cause they can’t stand liberals.

Christians tend to vote Republican due to issues like abortion and gay marriages. Non Christians tend to vote Democrats for the same reasons. And while there are legitimate reasons in this reasoning, they only scratch the surface of more sinister underlying issues.

America - the most powerful nation in the world and the salesman for democracy is falling apart due to the power hungry, money driven individuals ruling it. You think the President is in charge? You dreamer. You think policy - especially foreign policy - is party driven? You border on delusion.

The Bush Administration has fast tracked massive change in the US right under your noses and you have no idea. Moral Americans disgusted at Clinton’s antics and petrified by the atrocities of 911, are ignoring the massive changes happening without giving it any thought - let alone analyzing what the hell is going on the the worlds most powerful country.

Let this be a wake up call. George W Bush has sold out on you. Your beloved Constitution is not worth the paper it is written on any longer. The land of the free will, in the near future, be a chapter in a history book in a classroom of the next super power of the world. You are about to lose your status among the nations. You are a puppet of the New World Order.

Many are awakening to this reality and the cronies are aware of this. And this is why you are becoming a police state without you knowing or caring about it. I hope the following clip is sobering for you.

You may think I am anti-American. Believe me, this is far from the truth. I love the US as the best of mankind is a strong export from the US. But when I see warning signs left, right and center and few people even bother to sit up and take notice cause it shatters their conception of reality, I get alarmed.

As a Christian, I am aware of the turmoil prophesied on mankind. Problem is, most Christians are into the “let’s find a church that best suits my needs” instead of diligently studying scripture to try to understand the time they live in.

Prophecy paints a chilling description of the future of mankind. As a student of prophecy, the best advice given to me was to not try to predict things with prophecy. Instead, once things happen, prophecy is understood.

Having said that, pieces to the puzzle are always falling into place. The collapse of the Soviet Union allowed massive Jewish migration to Israel. The EU is seeing a Godless Europe unite like never before. There are wars and rumours of wars all over the place.

Jesus said that these things will happen. The Father said that He will gather his people back to their land. There are more Jews in America then in Israel. I have always believed that the collapse of America will occur soon in order for the Jews to return to their homeland.

Is the up coming police state and economic collapse going to be the catalyst to this happening? I don’t know. But it will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Bush Administration Lies

authorLayGuy | September 24, 2007

I’m not going to say much about the following video except that I apologise for the language and am also dismayed at why more American’s can’t see past the crap that is stacked up in front of the Bush Administration and it’s justification for war.

Wake up America!

You support an evil man and his cronies.

Driscoll In The News

authorLayGuy |

Good to see more action in regards to Mark Driscoll lately. He Pastors Mars Hill Church in Seattle and is one of my favourite teachers.

Mark draws heaps of criticism and praise at the same time from all over the Christian spectrum. Christianity Today has just published a feature article on the guy and I liked the description as to why Driscoll creates such a response.

Driscoll “comes off as a smart-aleck former frat boy,” according to The Seattle Times. Guilty as charged. If he hasn’t offended you, you’ve never read his books or listened to his sermons. On any given Sunday at Mars Hill, it’s possible that a visiting fire marshal will get saved. But it’s just as likely that a guest will flip him off before walking out.

The spectrum of response speaks to his sharp tongue—his greatest strength and his glaring weakness. But Driscoll also disturbs many fellow evangelicals because he straddles the borders that divide us. His unflinching Reformed theology grates on the church-growth crowd. His plan to grow a large church strikes postmoderns as arrogant. His roots in the emerging church worry Calvinists. No one group can claim him. Maybe that’s why they all turn their guns on him.

And another good quote talks about his split from the freaky little “Emergent” crowd - headed up by Tony Jones and Brian MacLaren.

Driscoll, while still emerging, no longer belongs to Emergent. Starting in 1995, Driscoll traveled around the country speaking for events hosted by Leadership Network, out of which grew Emergent Village in 2001. That’s when Driscoll split. He began to suspect that Emergent leaders wanted to revise Christian orthodoxy. Since then, Emergent Village has advocated an experimental, open approach to theology. Emergent Village coordinator Tony Jones has not sat down and talked with Driscoll in five years, Jones told me. Though they have sparred over theology, Jones spoke highly of Driscoll’s leadership gifts.

“He is uncommonly intelligent,” Jones said. “He is uncommonly articulate and humorous. He could have been a stand-up comedian. He could have been a great actor probably.”

But Driscoll seems to have tired of debates about the relationship of theology to postmodernism. Knowing his erstwhile Emergent friends will not be persuaded, Driscoll nevertheless references 641 Bible verses supporting his view in just 14 pages of Listening to the Beliefs of Emerging Churches: Five Perspectives.

I’ve got the above mentioned book sitting on my bookshelf and indeed noticed the vast reference to scripture while the Emergent crowd barely even mentions it.

That’s what I admire about Driscoll. The guy sticks to scripture like gum to your soles and refuses to budge from it - even when it means that many people trash him for his views. The other aspect I like about him is his passion mixed with his comedy. Thanks to a fellow blogger, check out this snippet from a sermon Driscoll did a few weeks ago.

Mars Hill Church recently held a mass baptism on Alki Beach on the Puget Sound. And in typical Driscoll style, a baby seal beached itself right where the baptisms were to be held. Even though the Church had a permit for the occasion, Federal Law stated that anyone venturing within 100 yards of the seal would incur a $2,000 fine.

As you can imagine, the media and animal activists arrive and everything has now gone crazy. The setup team prayed for the seal to move but eventually they decided to move a few hundred yards away to set up elsewhere when lo and behold, the tide comes in and the seal moves.

This allowed the event to go ahead as planned and the media hung around and reported it on TV, radio and newspapers - God ordained publicity - for free! In all, over 220 people were baptised that day with 3000 people in attendance.

Check out the TV report here. And check out the photo’s on Flickr here.

Like him or lump him, Driscoll is a guy sold out to God. Sure his techniques may ruffle a few feathers but his message stays true to scripture. I suggest you check out the Christianity Today article and watch the above mentioned clips. While you’re at it, read his blog here and subscribe to his sermon podcast here and get a glimpse into the heart of a guy on mission for Jesus. Then when you see the world rage against him, and in particular the Christians, you will have a better idea as to what’s going on.

Ticked

authorLayGuy | September 5, 2007

ticked.jpg I like to keep a watch on general world events as it’s fascinating to see how things pan out and then watch all the rhetoric garbage follow in an attempt to justify or cover up certain actions.

As an Aussie, I have the “privilege” of having George Bush grace our wonderful continent as part of the APEC summit. Being a Melbournian, I am 900 kilometers away from the action. But my frustration goes out to my fellow Sydney based Aussies who have to deal with all the trappings of a city under “summit”.

The disruptions caused by this summit have been well documented. The net effects of the summit are in question as it represents the leaders of some of the poorest and most exploited people on this planet.

I almost crashed my car when I heard that China’s President, Hu Jintao, is coming with his wife and TWO kids! What the hell happened to China’s one child policy when it comes to the head honcho? In light of all the recent recalls on Chinese products, maybe China should recall their leader out of my country.

Then today I see that China has been accused of hacking computers. First German security interests were hacked with Beijing being bantered around as a prime suspect. Next we see the Pentagon hacked as well with Trojans and back doors - with a sign dangling, “Made in China”. Then they have the audacity of gathering together at a summit pretending to like each other while they secretly plot the destruction of each other.

Adding to the lovely lists of delegates is Mr Bush himself. A recent poll found that 52% of Australians see George as the worst President ever - with another 38% being undecided about how pathetic Bush is. On his way, he snuck into Iraq for a propaganda visit saying that troop build up has detered much havoc in the region.

I find this a joke as many analysts are now coming out of the wood work and openly discussing the next step the US will take in the region - the annihilation of Iran’s military.

So Mr gutless wonder, George Bush, sneaks into a country he has invaded spewing his rhetoric about how successful the US has been in the region while his cronies secretly plot the destruction of Iran. What will be the catalyst of this invasion? Another terrorist attack on US soil - aka false flag? Who knows? But 1,200 targets in Iran should be nervous tonight as they have laser guided missles pointing at them right now.

But all is good as the Asia Pacific “leaders” of the world gather in my country to discuss economic prosperity. Yeah trust money to be the only glue to gel all the world leaders.

Meanwhile a Category 5 “monster storm” is hitting Central America as we speak. My US readers. Please inform me how much news attention this devastating storm is getting in your wonderful country as it hits the “dead beats” south of your border. The “tossing of the seas” the Bible talks about as a sign of major trouble is ignored on mass as the networks feed you trash.

I’m tired of the US centric nature of so called “world news”. The masses are more inclined to watch sports or focus their attention on celebrities rather then to know what’s happening in the world.

And that’s why I am ticked tonight. This world is heading down the toilet and people don’t give a shit about anything which doesn’t affect their ability to earn money or pursue pleasure.
