Just saw that you had commented back, sorry about that!

I see where you are coming from and it makes perfect sense. That is a great application of the tower of bable. I have often wondered about that.

I also agree with the mustard seed analogy. I long to have that faith of a mustard seed and work toward it!

Holiness- absolutely.

Oh and you asked a quesiton... righteousness.
Well simply "right standing with God" but I suppose many would interpert that differently. People make it complicated when really it is about dicoutinuing walking away from Jesus and walking toward him. Accepting and believing in faith in such a way that it changes the things we do, the way we act. We have a new litmus for right and wrong. And in all that I do not mean in a legalistic way, but rather a heart condition. Obviously we are imperfect, we have blind spots, at times we sin without even realizing it... but it is the heart set on God that once realizing a sin repents and changes. God is all about our heart... having US... on judgement day (what ever that is or whatever deminsion that is in :) ) I think many will be surprised that it wasn't about how it looked to others or what they did... but their motives, their thought life, the goals, their relationship with him....

That all probably isn't super eloquent... my brain is fried and i have a lot left to do.

I agree with your defn. of righteousness as well though. I think our eyes are to be fixed on him whether it is reasonable or seems to defy reason for sure.

God bless. Have fun with your (cute smile) wife and with your little ones! Too bad we all can't have you guys over for a cookout and discuss all these types of things.

Zabs,

The Kaballah Jewelry thing is out of my control! I wish I had a bit more control over what is on my site with the adds but I don't unfortunately. I monetize my blog to break even and cover costs - even though i fall way short.

About science discovering God. When Jesus said that if we had the faith the size of a mustard seed, we could move mountains into the sea, many Christians have reduced the mountains to the "mountains in our life."

But my take on this is that we have the ability to alter matter the way Jesus did - through faith. We are fallen creatures - but inspired by Christ to be redeemed. Scientists have said that we use 1/10 of 1% of our brain's capacity - an extremely small mustard seed indeed.

And yet our Creator Jesus said that if our faith was the size of a mustard seed - ie a little bigger then 1/10 of 1% we could alter space time - in effect moving a mountain into the sea, I believe "faith" is redeeming back to God that 99.9/10's of our mind's capacity to function.

Here's a question to you. What does "righteousness" mean? Or what does "holy" mean? To me, Abraham was declared "righteous" when he believed something his 5 senses couldn't perceive. It had nothing to do with morality - but more mindset despite reason. Evidently, God admires this attribute in humans.

And holiness has nothing to do with wearing your Sunday best to Church. Rather holiness means means "separated" or "distinct" from the rest. This is where God resides as He alone is beyond anything else. No wonder the angels cry out Holy, Holy, Holy!

In effect, they cry out, "you are so distinct from anything else in all of reality - you are unique and separated from anything else there is." And they do this 3 times over in an attempt to emphasise that God is unique.

But man has warped holiness into pathetic ritual which really means nothing at all. My God is a Being beyond human perception.

"For this is what the high and lofty One says— He who lives forever, whose name is holy:
"I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite." Isaiah 57:15"

This high and lofty place is what I believe science will one day discover - not understand - but discover. I get my authority through this scripture regarding the time of the Tower of Babel:

"But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

very interesting.
I have not heard anyone say science will discover God. But that just makes it more fun to think about, a brand new thought. In the book (that turned out being the answer to my comment) Brave New World (written in 1938) there is a conversation about guys among a couple of the leaders. And in this scenario it is not a denying of God but rather "yes he does exist" but "we no longer have need for him"... so they buried books and all references and conditioned people to have no thought of God. I would pull out direct quotes, but I'm tired. As a society they pretty much took the place of God, they replaced parents and raised children pre-determined in a lab and with sleep hypnotism. They did all they could to eliminate pain, sickness and disease from society.... really interesting parallels all throughout the book.

I will have to think on the verses though.
